A type of drinking vessel for hunters to drink from before leaving or arriving home from hunting whilst their feet remained on the stirrups. A popular practice in the late 18th and 19th centuries.
The Hare Stirrup Cup is designed to replicate the hare head; the fur and details thoroughly incised to accentuate the design. The cup's interior is gilded with 24K gold.
